About the film
Alexei, whose mother is Russian and father from the Caucasus, learns that his brother Aslan has died fighting in Chechnya. An old man arrives with the news — his own son died alongside Aslan — and asks Alexei to help him take revenge. Alexei, absorbed in an art doctorate and removed from such violence, is drawn instead into a slow reckoning with what revenge actually means. Roman Balayan dedicated the film to his own brother, Valery.
